Band Night
Being in the dimly lit bar, surrounded by music from the front, the chatter of the bar from the back, it feels good to be at a gig! One of my favourite things about London was gig nights, and here I was at the Evelyn where there were 3 on show. 8 bucks, $2.50 pots, it can only go right. A very relaxing way to round off an intense week of work.
A big thanks to Angie for inviting us along to see Ryan Meeking and the Few. The second band on the set, Jack's Castle, were great too and it turned out that a colleague from work plays guitar for them.

Colours of Christmas
Dave Matthews plays heavily in the background. It's wintry outside, dark and wet and windy. A little oil, garlic and plenty of black muscles. The beat of Two Step presses down the hall. A splash of white wine, pepper. The weather put me in the mind of Christmas - Europe-style - and earlier I handed over a fiver for a green plastic tree, a few more bucks for some lights, some candles. A handful of picked, washed, chopped parsley; it's still very young, bright and tasty. Cherry tomatoes. Linguine alla vongole.

It sounds, look, smells like something so familiar, recreated. This wintry day, sheltered inside, with good music, good food and soft, coloured lights against the darkness, it could be Europe.
