Hilltop hermitage

Outside the town of Amer in central Catalunya, on a sunny winter day, we passed this small hilltop church on the way to our rock climbing point. The Catalan flag flies proudly on top.

January 6 in Catalunya is "Three Kings Day" (Dia dels Reis) and cause for a big lunch - in our case including Cava with a dash of the Licor de Cassis we picked up from Arties in the Vall d'Aran

Sunrise at Betlan, Val d'Aran

This sunrise at our "hotelet" in the tiny village of Betlan in the Val d'Aran preceded a gorgeous day for skiing at nearby Baqueira (1 degree at 2,500m on the mountain and a bright blue sky all day) - great start to the New Year!
